Hong Kong is part of China but is a unique city. We have our own culture, currency, laws and our own way of doing things. Being gay in Hong Kong is safe and so much fun!
Hong Kong is a highly developed city with a dynamic sprit. The city is full of many tall buildings and our skyline is famous around the world. You can basically divide Hong Kong into four main areas: Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, New Territories and Lantau Island (which is where the airport is).
Hong Kong's gay scene is most active on Hong Kong Island, between Sheung Wan and Causeway Bay districts (you can find these areas on the MTR route map. MTR is the name of our subway).
If you prefer to stay close to the gay community, hotels located on Hong Kong Island would be your best choice. Most of the gay clubs and bars are located in Sheung Wan and Central districts. But if you like to sing or go shopping than you can try the gay karaoke and big shopping centres which are mostly located in Causeway Bay. Saunas and massage parlours are spread throughout Hong Kong Island and on Kowloon side, the MTR is one of the best subway systems in the world and it is easy to reach all districts in the city.
In Hong Kong the gay season is most active from September till the year end includes numbers of large parties, our Gay Pride Parade and the annual Lesbian and Gay film Festival.
